The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and support of Element Fleet's AWS cloud infrastructure. They will be maintaining scalable and secure cloud environments to support the company’s transition from on-premises infrastructure to AWS Cloud Services. This role will play a critical part in developing and implementing the company’s cloud migration roadmap, ensuring high availability, performance, and security while modernizing IT operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
-Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS aligned to best practices and business requirements.
-Lead the technical execution of cloud migration initiatives from legacy on-premise infrastructure to AWS.
-Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
-Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to define cloud architecture and operational procedures.
-Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to ensure system performance and availability.
-Document infrastructure architecture, procedures, and support models for knowledge transfer and compliance.
-Stay current on emerging cloud technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years in infrastructure/operations or SRE across hybrid environments (VMware/Windows/Linux)
3+ years hands-on AWS (EC2/EKS/ECS, Kubernetes, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch/CloudTrail/Config).
Proven track record migrating workloads from on-prem to AWS at scale (discovery, wave planning, execution, cutover, rollback).
Strong networking fundamentals (CIDR, routing, VPN/Direct Connect, DNS), security (IAM, KMS, guardrails), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation).
Proficiency with scripting/automation (Python or PowerShell/Bash), Git-based workflows, and CI/CD for infrastructure.
Experience implementing monitoring/observability, backup/restore, and DR with defined RTO/RPO.
Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours change windows as needed.
Certified AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Professional preferred
Preferred
One of: AWS SysOps Administrator or AWS DevOps Engineer (preferred).
HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Kubernetes CKA/CKAD
Experience with Control Tower/Organizations multi-account setups, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, and hybrid DNS.
Familiarity with security/compliance frameworks (CIS/NIST/ISO) and audit evidence practices.
Background with FinOps, showback/chargeback, and unit economics reporting.
Physical/Operational
Ability to perform hands-on keyboard work for architecture, scripting, and incident response; occasional after-hours work for cutovers.

-Makes architecture and operational decisions that influence availability, security, cost, and delivery timelines. Accountable for migration cutover outcomes and adherence to control frameworks· Handles complex migration projects and cloud design initiatives requiring both strategic and tactical thinking. Works with minimal supervision and operates with high autonomy.
-While this is not a people manager role, it requires leadership through influence—guiding teams, setting architectural standards, and taking ownership of deliverables. Expected to lead initiatives and report progress to senior leadership.
-Acts as hands-on technical lead for migration waves; mentors peers; sets engineering standards (IaC, tagging, observability, security baselines) and enforces them through automation.
-Resolves deep infrastructure issues, solves complex architecture and migration challenges, introduces automation solutions and continuously improves performance, reliability, and cost efficiency, demonstrating continuous innovation to drive operational efficiency and modern IT delivery.
